I have something to share with you.

It has been months since I posted.  I took a new job last year and it has taken me this long to get the balance back into my life. My reward:  a two-week vacation(one week away with my husband and one week at home with my daughter) and unplugging from the work devices (absolutely necessary).

So what did I get to do during these two weeks?  (Re)Discover my love of reading. Click the books below to check out some entertaining summer reading!

5lovelanguagesI remember having a conversation with my dear friend Michelle about relationships and she shared with me a great book that had been recommended to her.  Recently I saw a clip on Facebook where two pastors referred to this book as a great read for those married or in a relationship….The Five Love Languages: The Secret to Love that Lasts.

I downloaded this to my Kindle back in 2012 and I remember recommending it to other friends once I finished it.  It educates you on what the author believes are the 5 primary love languages and how to identify what your partners language is and how to “speak” that language.

So what are they?

  • quality time
  • words of affirmation
  • gifts
  • acts of service
  • physical touch

So think about the five languages above and decide….what language do you “speak”, what language does your partner “speak” AND have you learned to “speak” their language and have they learned to “speak” yours?

I read The Skimm(if you don’t, check it out) and recently they highlighted a book “Maybe In Another Life” by Taylor Jenkins Reid.  I had just finished 4 Erin Hildebrand books and was looking for a new author to get hooked on.  So off to Amazon to download a new book to my kindle/iPad.

Maybe in Another Life was definitely a quick read and after only 3 short flights, I finished it.  The story alternates in each chapter, what happens in the future depending on who Hannah leaves the bar with – her best friend or her high school boyfriend.  Since it was such an easy read, I downloaded a second book by the same author and finished that book, After I Do.  This is a story about marriage and two people who decide to take a year off in the hopes of finding a way to fall in love with each other again.

Both easy reads if you are looking for some new books for the plane or new books for bedtime reading!
