On the Road Eats: Little Rock

I have something to share with you.

Have you been to Little Rock?  The city continues to surprise me.  They have great boutiques and a bunch of great dining options.  Plus they now have a full service Marriott downtown if I cannot get in and out in one day.

One Eleven at the Capital
I finally am able to say I visited the perfect spot for a Ladies Lunch although I was alone and had no one to chit-chat with.  I dined at One Eleven, the fine dining restaurant at the Capital Hotel in downtown Little Rock.  I ordered the express lunch and had a special platter brought out with small tastes of each of the items – a starter, a small soup, an entrée, a bread basket with a small wedge of brie and a dessert.  It was portioned most perfectly, the server was super polite, and the atmosphere was very calm.  Conversations were going on at the tables around me but I was able to dine and relax for a short while(even though I did take care of a few emails).

On my platter was a Salmon gravlax as my starter(top right), a wonderful butternut squash soup(bottom right) that I wish I could copy at home, a seared tuna with a light tomato broth with vegetables and gnocchi for my entrée(middle), a wedge of Brie and for dessert, a kumquat panna cotta(bottom left).  I think I found the perfect spot!

Whole Hog Cafe
I wasn’t going to arrive home till after 7 so I decided to grab a quick sandwich at the airport before boarding. Whole Hog Cafe is a local BBQ spot in Little rock that I visited years ago and that was the best option at the airport. Pulled pork with sauce #1(they have 7 or 8 options) with coleslaw. A solid spot when at the Little Rock airport.
