I have something to share with you.
We have an office in Long Island but it has been almost 8 years since I have been to visit. When asked to fly in for a meeting, I knew it was be successful both professionally and personally. I had the chance to meet new colleagues, catch up with family and of course, eat really well!
Heirloom Tavern
I googled for the best dining in Long Island and an article from Newsday came up. There was a restaurant in Glen Head, pretty close to where I was going to be, that got a great review. I knew we had a team dinner planned so I passed on the suggestion. We started with a variety of appetizers, veal meatballs, calamari and steak skewers. I chose a Caesar salad and the halibut special with brussel sprouts for my main. The meal was great. I finished with crème brulée and a cup of decaf. The restaurant was small but full on a Tuesday night….and the service was great. Check it out if nearby!
Benny’s Ristorante
Great Italian food. Amazing company(reconnected with a cousin after 20 years). Old school service and experience. Did I mention I had a great meal? We started with appetizers, eggplant rollatini for me, clams oreganata for her. She opted for a rigatoni dish, I had to have linguini with clams. No room for dessert but I should have forced myself and had a cannoli. Between the food and the great visit I had with my cousin, I think I floated home!
Viana Hotel and Spa
I am a loyal Marriott customer. But, when corporate has a special rate at a hotel close to the office, you stay there. Especially when it is about $75 less expensive per night and includes breakfast. The Viana was great and I admit, I did have my doubts. The rooms were clean and spacious, the rate included breakfast(I headed to Bagel Boss instead NY bagels to eat and bring home), and the location was quite convenient. Am I sad I missed out on points and elite nights? Yes, but if I happen to be back to this office, I know it will be a comfortable stay at the Viana.
