I have something to share with you.
After my failed attempt at falling into a couple spots in Fort Lauderdale, I did a bit more homework and found some great spots for Delray Beach. This is definitely an area of Florida that I would return to as the food, the shopping and the fact that I could relax made this a great trip!
El Camino
Loved this spot – great atmosphere, great food BUT spicy to me and spicy to our server mean two different things. Others at the table agreed. I tried the tacos(pork belly, barbacoa, and carnitas)and enjoyed them prior to my lips turning numb due to the spice. Now I admit I am sensitive to spice but this was crazy. My husband had the burrito and said it was really good. Queso, Guac – I was in a happy place!
Tramonti
I had a great meal here. Octopus appetizer, Linguine with Clam Sauce, Veal Parm, cannoli, tiramisu….WOW! Living in Dallas I miss out on great Italian. There are a few spots here but nothing like home(growing up in NJ spoiled me). Tramonti is right on Atlantic avenue and it was loud enough that having two kids and a baby was totally fine….but keep in mind that we did eat early. Portions are a great size and I opted for a half portion of the pasta with clam sauce.
DADA
The concierge recommended this spot and I had read up on it already. We picked a beautiful night to sit outside and had a server that was super great with my daughter. She had already eaten dinner so she chose the banana bread dessert but asked for it deconstructed. It was fantastic….she loved the banana bread and the ice cream, I tried it with the Caramelized Banana Caramel Sauce and WOW…delish. For dinner, I had the Blackened Redfish with Gnocchi and Herb Brown Butter and loved it. My husband tried the Habañero Maple Glazed Salmon(loved it) and my father in law had the Mediterranean Plate – said the grape leaves were the best he ever had. I will be back the next time we are in Delray!
Green Owl Restaurant
A little diner type place for a simple breakfast. My eggs were perfect, the french toast was great, had bacon, hash browns and rye toast, kept my coffee warm with regular and decaf refills and my daughter announced it was the best breakfast she ever had. No frills but none needed.
Madison’s New York Grill & Bar
Our last meal in south Florida was at Madison’s which was on the way from Delray to the airport. We met family for a late lunch with only one other table in the restaurant. Our server was great and the restaurant reminded me of Houston’s. Grandma got a salad that was HUGE and looked delicious, I ordered the ribs and greatly enjoyed my meal and they were kid-friendly!
The Seagate Hotel &Spa
We really enjoyed the Seagate. It was quiet, private and updated with modern rooms and a spa. You could walk to town and to the beach or use their shuttle service. There was a pool onsite and a private beach club with a second pool, great restaurant(recommend the salad with avocado and crab) and beach access. I liked that it was not a huge resort and my daughter was most happy with three things – the pool, the beach and the fact that they served mac and cheese from the box!
